Renowned Yoruba actor Olu Olowogemo, popularly known by his stage name Mr. Portable, has revealed some of the reasons he stepped back from acting in films. He also discussed the costs involved in producing a typical movie in today&#;s industry.
In a video shared on the official YouTube channel of Oyinmomo TV during an interview, Mr. Portable revealed that he stopped acting in movies because he is currently facing financial difficulties and can no longer afford to invest in filmmaking.
In his statement, he said, “There was a time when my friend Segun Ogungbe and I could not afford three hundred thousand naira to produce our own movies, so we had to stop movie production. I stopped acting movies because I’m broke, and I can’t afford to make movies anymore. I like to produce quality movies, and I spend a lot of money on movie productions; that is why my movie soundtracks are always top quality.”
He further explained that 95% of men who approach a woman do so with the intention of gaining something from her, often seeking physical intimacy. To achieve this, they tend to act nice and attentive. He noted that some men rarely call their wives but will constantly call a new woman,

Actor, director and producer, Olu Olowogemo, popularly known as ‘Mr Portable’, has been in the movie industry for a long time and has assisted several upcoming actors to become stars. The award-winning actor, who is best known for playing comical roles in movies talks about his career and the Yoruba movie industry in this interview by FEMI OGUNTAYO. Excerpts:
We have heard of how you helped a lot of actors grow and become stars in the movie industry, can you tell us how and when you joined the industry?
I joined the movie industry in under the Olaiya films platform. Olaiya Igwe (Ebun Oloyede) is a brother to me and I grew up watching his movies and stage plays. We also lived in the same area and I developed an interest in what he was doing. So, in , I went to meet him at a movie location because he already left our area by that time. I met him through Oyebola Ogungbe – Baba Ogungbe’s son, he was the one who told me Olaiya was recording a film at Baba’s place. So, I met him, I told him I would also like to join him in the acting business and from there I started following him to movie locations.
