Biologiste de formation, Olivier de Sagazan se tourne vers la peinture et la sculpture avec l'idée omniprésente de questionner la vie organique. De sa passion de donner vie à la matière lui est venue l'idée de deux créations que Wart produira : Découvrez "Transfiguration" et "Il nous est arrivé quelque chose" !

Sur scène, un homme connecté à de nombreux capteurs rentre dans un tube à essai de 2 mètres de haut. Il entame une course sur place et son électrocardiogramme dessine en direct son état physiologique. Sa respiration croissante, les bruits du corps et sa voix sont repris par 2 artistes sonores qui façonnent en direct le tempo musical, tout comme la vidéo et la lumière interagissent avec l’état du performeur. À la recherche d’une «radicalisation de l’expérience sensible» le performeur énonce en direct des mots et des pensées qui lui viennent à l’esprit. Sa langue trébuche, son alphabet se désarticule et la folie prend le dessus quand le sujet s’interroge sur l’origine des mots qui naissent dans sa bouche. Une alchimie profonde se

As the audience enter, Olivier de Sagazan is pacing the stage, deep in thought. A slight, barefooted figure dressed in suit and tie, he circles in and out the shadows, head bowed, sometimes muttering to himself. As the audience settle and hush, his footsteps gradually become more audible (the floor is mic-ed) and begin to pound like a calling drum.
He kneels in front of a large block of clay, and dabbles his fingers in metal bowls of water set by his right and left hands. Originally a painter and sculptor, de Sagazan’s hands have a restless quality. They flicker and caress the air, pound the floor, and plunge into the clay which he proceeds to sculpt on himself, using it to morph and distort his face into a series of masks. It’s gloriously visceral to watch.
De Sagazan smooths wet clay into his skin and suddenly he is gone, leaving a grey creature in his place. He jabs two fingers into black paint and dots eyes into the mask. With his other hand he slashes red paint for a mouth. Tilting his head in the light, he jerks puppet-like. His mechanic

A painter and sculptor’s unfulfilled longing to breathe life into his creation. In a gesture of desperation he sculpts clay onto his head, burying himself in the material, eradicating his identity and becoming a living work of art. Yet the material blinds him and he is forced to look inward, into the very depths of himself. In a fascinating performance Sagazan shifts identities on stage, from man to animal and from animal to various hybrid creatures. He pierces, obliterates and unravels the layers on his face in a frenzied search for new essence and form. In this regard, he has stated : “I am flabbergasted to see to what degree people think it’s normal, or even trite, to be alive ». In Transfiguration, he gives new meaning to the notion of life, offering a captivating, disturbing and stirring glimpse into an alternative selfhood utterly unconstrained by inhibition.
