The Brazeal Dennard Chorale was established after many years of discussion between Brazeal, his wife, Murdice Dennard and close friends, Gelacy and Naomi Peters. In the Fall of , the Brazeal Dennard Chorale was founded, with a mission to promote the music of African American composers and to perpetuate the heritage of the Negro Spiritual. Today, this highly skilled group of singers not only preserves this rich musical heritage, but also performs music from all genres of Choral Music repertoire at the highest level!

BRAZEAL DENNARD Obituary

DENNARD BRAZEAL WAYNE Brazeal Wayne Dennard died on Monday, July 5, He was born January 1, in Detroit and was the fifth and youngest child of Bertha and Ezekiel Dennard. His love for the City of Detroit was steadfast and he resided here his entire life. He was educated in the Detroit Public Schools, attending Eastern High School, and he later received both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Education from Wayne State University. Prior to attending Wayne State, Mr. Dennard served in the military, where his musical talents were quickly recognized. Thus, during his tour of duty, he served as a Chaplain's Assistant and was responsible for the music for all chapel services. Having previously been active as a church musician, this position allowed him to continue on a path that was in many ways to be his life's work. Mr. Dennard began studying piano at a young age and for several years studied under the tutelage of Dean Robert L. Nolan, one of Detroit's foremost music pedagogues. He also began studying voice and became an excellent tenor, singing solo as well as choral parts of major choral works in the Robert Nolan Choir. He later was

Krystal Thomas is an accomplished concert pianist from Detroit, Michigan. As a soloist, she has performed at Carnegie Hall in their Spring Instrumental Music Festival, Max Fisher Orchestra Hall (Detroit), the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Steinway Piano Gallery of Detroit, and many other venues.  She has also recorded various solo piano pieces for The FJH Music Company.  She has received numerous awards, including first recipient of the Friends of Chopin, Inc. scholarship, a James Tatum Foundation for the Arts scholarship, and the Elyane Kuhles Memorial Music Scholarship. 

Krystal is acknowledged for her outstanding performances as a collaborator and chamber musician.  She is currently the pianist for the renowned Brazeal Dennard Chorale.  She has been a guest artist in Duo Esplanade's concert tour and has also performed with The Four Pianos at the Frauenthal Theater.  Krystal has served as the pianist of the Perigon Trio, alongside violinist Kyle Venlet and clarinetist Jennifer Fischer.  As a harpsichordist and fortepianist, Krystal has performed in the Grand Rapids Bach Festival, the Grand Rapids Handel Celebration, and Muskegon’s Arts at Noon Se
