Amanda Cole's compositions feature microtonal structures, interference beats and fusions of electronic and acoustic timbres. She has a BMus(Hons.1) and a PhD in composition from the Sydney Conservatorium. In , she travelled to London to study electroacoustic composition with Professor Denis Smalley at City University.

Cole's microtonal compositions include percussion trios for a purpose built Microtonal Glass Harmonica, a string quartet using freeze pedals and choral works in just intonation tuning. She has written concert music pieces for acoustic instruments in combination with electronic music tracks made from sine tones. These piece include: Vibraphone Theories () for vibraphone and sine tones, Loom Patterns () for portable organ and sine tones, Barcelona Bells () for carillon and sine tones and Oracle Chamber () for bass flute, baritone saxophone and sine tones.
